Main Article Content
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: One of the essential components of language is pragmatics, understood as the study of the use of language in a context. That is, analyze the correct use of language in social contexts, beyond the literal meaning of the words. Evaluates the use of language as a form of communication in an effective way, considering factors such as context, interlocutors, intentions and social conventions. Understanding what is meant involves an integration of linguistic and non-linguistic information. The objective of this paper is a systematic review of the literature to analyze the evolution of the tools and methodologies used to assess the pragmatic component of language in the last 25 years.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: this work focused on the review of scientific literature published in indexed journals in the last 25 years, in English and Spanish, research carried out in different countries and with different populations and representative samples. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) model guidelines were followed to ensure rigorous methodology in the search and selection of studies. The inclusion criteria were studies published in indexed journals, between 2000 and 2024, that focused on the specific topic.
RESULTS: the analysis of the reviewed literature showed that risk factors include male sex, premature birth, low birth weight, larger family size and cases of domestic violence. The results further demonstrated that SCD is more common in children with a history of DLD than without and history of language disorder in kindergarten was a significant risk factor for SCD in adolescence.
