Abstract

The Speech Recognition Threshold (SRT) is part of speech audiometry and is a useful measure in audiology. Despite its importance, this concept was relegated in Argentina for a long time in favor of the so-called “Word Threshold” which lacks clinical utility and does not have a solid technique for its determination, from a methodological point of view. This paper describes the characteristics and usefulness of the SRT, along with the predominant approaches and the recommended technique for its acquisition.
