CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE CHIAVARO METHOD, NEUROMUSCULAR-FUNCTIONAL TECHNIQUE, IN THE APPROACH OF PHONETIC DISORDERS OF SPEECH
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objetive of this paper is to discuss the use of the Functional Neuromuscular Therapy (TNMF
Chiavaro Method) in the treatment of the phonetic speech disorders.
Before developing this review we consider it important to establish the difference between language and speech, to later focus on the latter, emphasazing the phonetic and phonological aspects, which are both considered as parts of the speech by other authors.
The intention is to transmit the contributions of the Chiavaro Method, highlighting the neuromuscular activity (NMA) that sets the stomatognathic system in motion; the functional neuromuscular speech analysis, as stated in the PENCH (Chiavaro Standard Evaluation Protocol) and the implementation of the functional neuromuscular technique in the phonetic speech disorders, with or without linguistic commitment, where NMA and the breath expiratory play an important role in the phonetic aspect.
This therapeutic resource is important when correcting the point and way of articulation of the phonemes mispronounced by children, when auditory discrimination and visual imitation of muscle movements are insufficient.
